In this installment of “Client to Client: Best Practices” – a series showcasing our top performing clients and what they’ve done to achieve great success with RoomSync – we are highlighting Granville Towers, an EdR Management, Inc. property located in Chapel Hill, NC. As one of our more successful off-campus clients, Granville Towers has consistently had very high “lease generated” numbers since their first year of implementation. Beverly Foster – a Sales Assistant at Granville Towers who is also a full-time student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill – used RoomSync herself to select her roommates. She highlights on tours that the RoomSync app is simple and easy to use. Beverly explains the benefits of using Facebook as a self-selection platform and points out that self-selecting eliminates the wait to find out roommate assignments. The Granville Towers team explains to prospects and residents that RoomSync allows residents to take control of their living situations and that it is a convenient way to handle the roommate matching process.
Allison incorporates humor on her tours by reminding prospects of the first place they will go to look up their new roommates: Facebook. She further explains that by using Facebook as part of the process, students won’t have to wait while the on-site team manually matches and then run to Facebook to find out more about their roommates.
Allison and Beverly shared that prospects are surprised to find out how advanced the roommate matching process is at Granville Towers and they are excited about all of the options available. They feel more comfortable knowing they won’t have to worry about who they’ll be paired with in the fall.
Granville Towers prospects and residents are impressed with the empowering experience of RoomSync and love that it takes awkwardness out of community building and getting to know their new roommates.

Another way in which RoomSync impacts the property’s leasing and renewal decisions is the capability to select suitemates within a unit. This means residents have even more control of their living environment at Granville Towers. The community has a unique floorplan structure where residents have both roommates and suitemates (with whom they’ll share a bathroom). In the past, it was difficult or near impossible for the on-site team to match suitemates together, this being a much more challenging endeavor than matching roommates. RoomSync provides a simple solution with the Suitemate Tool that allows residents to select the roommate they’d like to share a room with as well as the suitemates they’d like to share a bathroom with. This not only takes a burden off the on-site staff, but also provides residents with peace of mind knowing that their living preferences extend throughout their entire suite.
The residents of Granville Towers are more satisfied with their living experience. Allison and Beverly have noticed a huge reduction in the number of roommate conflicts that occur within their community since implementing RoomSync.

Another way that Granville Towers has improved their RoomSync success is by making the app a part of their workflow and leasing process. The team invites approved residents to join the app along with their notification of approval.
